Diamond Polish Mandatory for Snail Guide

Snail Wire Guide offers the convenience of easy threading, making it an attractive alternative to Caged Wire Guide Pulleys in less critical applications, offering a 360o guidance to the wire. Since the wire in this case is traversing against a non-revolving guiding surface, it is highly desirable that the loop, or the guide surface in contact with the wire, be thoroughly diamond polished, which is not always the case with common ceramic snail guides.

The Direction of the Turn

One aspect which needs to be clarified with the Snail Wire Guide is the direction in the turn of the loop, to eliminate misunderstandings.

The abbreviation "L" or "R" appearing in the Part Number designates the direction of the turn, which applies to a snail guide of the same dimensions. The convention of the turn is depicted at top left. The choice of the turn is a matter of preference on the shop floor, governed by the ease of threading.

Holders to go with Snail Guides

Snail Wire Guide is epoxy-bond on a metallic holder, usually threaded. We offer three (3) each of metric and imperial (inch) threaded holders, depicted below.  Epoxy resin to withstand high temperature is available upon request.
